Diddington ? in Huntingdonshire (now part of Cambridgeshire), England ? is a village near Buckden south west of Huntingdon.
The nature reserve features lakes, woodland and part of the Ouse floodplain and is home to large numbers of cormorants and many summer visitors such as nightingales and a large number of passerine birds. Grebes, ducks and geese have colonised the lakes. The village has a public house called The Anchor. The Anchor is a lovely village pub. Gravel extraction remains an important industry in and around the village. There is also a fencing company, a tool hire and a conservatory village. On the edge of the village, a derelict industrial site has been redeveloped to provide riverside housing, extending the village towards the outskirts of St. Neots.
Southoe is a small village in England on the A1 between St Neots and Buckden, Cambridgeshire.
"The lantern, no doubt, was intended to be lighted at night for a sea-mark. The church of All Saints at York has a lantern very much resembling this of Boston; 'and tradition tells us that anciently a large lamp hung in it, which was lighted in the night time, as a mark for travellers to aim at, in this city. There is still the hook of the pulley on which the lamp hung in the steeple.' ? Drake's York, p. 292. And Stow tells us that the steeple had five lanterns; to wit, one at each corner, and 'It seemeth that the lanterns on the top of this steeple were meant to have been glazed, and lights in them to have been placed nightly in the winter; whereby travellers to the city might have the better sight thereof, and not miss their way.' ? Survey, p. 542."
The ground has a Grade A certificate. This means that it fulfills the Football League ground requirements. The club had to install temporary seats in the centre of the Benton Brothers York Street End during their spell in the Football League for this, according to former Chairman Jon Sotnick. The ground's Grade A status means that all matches held there must be segregated.
