Artifacts on display include the engagement ring Keats offered to Fanny Brawne and a copy of Keats's death mask. The museum runs regular poetry and literary events, and offers a range of educational facilities. In December 2006 it was announced that the house was to benefit from a restoration[5] programme partly financed by a £424,000 Heritage Lottery Fund grant.[6] Keats House was closed on 1 November 2007 and reopened on Friday, 24 July 2009, some 6 months after the projected re-opening.[1]
Victoria Road, currently known as the London Borough of Barking & Dagenham Stadium, for sponsorship purposes, is the home ground of Dagenham & Redbridge F.C. of London, England. It has a capacity of 6,078.
The station was first served by the Central Line on 5 May 1947 when it became the temporary terminus of the line, passengers changing on to steam shuttle onwards to Epping. This ceased on 14 December 1947 with the extension of Underground services to Woodford and Newbury Park.
The station was opened by the Eastern Counties Railway on 22 August 1856 as part of the Eastern Counties Railway branch to Loughton, which was eventually extended to Epping and Ongar in 1865. The station then formed part of the Great Eastern Railway's system until that company was merged into the London & North Eastern Railway (LNER) in 1923. The station was subsequently transferred to form part of London Underground's Central Line from 14 December 1947. This formed a part of the long planned, and delayed, Eastern Extension of the Central line that was part of the London Passenger Transport Board's "New Works Programme" of 1935 - 1940.
The area has become a built-up part of north-east London, consisting largely of late Victorian and early 20th century terraced housing. Some of the street names retain a link with the past: Colegrave Road, Selby Road, Manbey Street (all associated with the Colegrave family) - and half way along Cann Hall Road is the Colegrave Arms pub which Is now turning into a Mosque.
