Norwich Cathedral has a fine selection of 61 misericords, dating from 3 periods - 1480, 1515 and mid-19th century. The subject matter is varied, mythological, everyday subjects and portraits.
An aerial photograph from August 1935 shows three sides of open terracing and a covered stand, with a Colman's Mustard advertisement painted on its roof, visible only from the air.[11] The club's association with Colman's has continued into the modern era; in 1997 the club signed a shirt sponsorship deal with the company.[12] The mustard manufacturer's original factory was located adjacent to the stadium in Carrow Road,[5] and the ground was opened by Russell Colman, the President of the club.[13] Inglis describes the early Carrow Road as comprising "a Main Stand, a covered end terrace and two large open banks".[5] The covered terrace was paid for by Captain Evelyn Barclay, the vice-president of Norwich City; it was constructed in time for the opening of the 1937?38 season, and while the original construction is long-gone, the end retains the name of its benefactor.[14]
Norwich Castle, in Norwich, England, was built in 1067 when William the Conqueror (1066 - 1087) ordered its construction because he wished to have a fortified place in the important city of Norwich. In the event, it proved to be his only castle in East Anglia. Ninety-eight Saxon homes were demolished to make way for the castle. The original structure was a timber motte and bailey structure standing on a natural rise in the land augmented by an artificial mound.
Although Brightlingsea has a long shipbuilding history, it was never particularly developed for sea traffic, although it does have a small port.
Its church, St Mary The Virgin, lies about a mile north of the village. It is one of 38 existing round-tower churches in Suffolk. It has the largest round tower by diameter in England.
