King\'s Lynn

King\'s Lynn is a town and port in Norfolk, England. The town has been known variously as Bishop\'s Lynn and Lynn Regis, while it is frequently referred to by locals as simply Lynn, the Celtic word for lake.King\'s Lynn is the third largest settlement in Norfolk, after the city of Norwich and the town of Great Yarmouth. Sandringham House, the Norfolk residence of the British Royal Family, is 6 miles (9.7 km) north-east of King\'s Lynn. It is known as the birthplace of George Vancouver (1757?1798), an officer in the Royal Navy, who was the first person to explore the Pacific coast of the modern day Canadian province of British Columbia; the American states of Alaska, Washington, and Oregon; and the southwest coast of Australia. It is also the place of the first school attended by Diana, Princess of Wales.

By 1950 this collection had swollen to more than 1,500 volumes including 150 printed before 1600 and even a small amount predating 1500. The bulk of the rest, 1,200 in total, were relatively speaking more modern, dating from 1600?1700. Many of these books are believed to be a gift of the vicar serving when the library was first established, the Rev'd Anthony Tuckney.

The ground has been used for a variety of other purposes besides the hosting of Boston United's football matches. It is also currently used as the club's offices. 'The Boston United Sports Bar' is located on the ground's car park and is open every evening. Its running was taken over by the club in early March 2009 and the bar provides drinks, pool facilities and televisions. Public meetings have been held inside the ground, and the Supporters' Trust hold meetings in the Boardroom. 'Community Days' and fireworks displays have also been held there. Notably, York Street held its most recent international match on March 5, 2009. England Under-18 Schoolboys beat Wales Under-18 Schoolboys 3-0, with a pre-match japanese drum display and half-time cheerleading routine taking place on the pitch that evening.

The Town Bridge maintains the line of the road to Lindsey and from its western end, looking at the river side of the Exchange Building to the right, it is possible to see how the two ends of the building, founded on the natural levees of The Haven, have stood firm while the middle has sunk into the infill of the former river.
