St Austell

St Austell is in the new parliamentary constituency of St Austell and Newquay which was created by the Boundary Commission for England (increasing the number of seats in Cornwall from five to six).

Smeaton's Tower

The upper part was dismantled and rebuilt as a memorial to Smeaton on a new base on Plymouth Hoe in 1882,[5] replacing the triangular obelisk that had been built there by Trinity House as a navigation aid in the early 19th century.[6] It was opened to the public by the Mayor of Plymouth on 24 September 1884.[7]

Plymouth Pavilions

The Pavilions previous and future shows include:

Drake Circus Shopping Centre

The circus survived the Plymouth Blitz of World War II relatively intact, but it was demolished in 1966-7 as part of the Plan for Plymouth,[10][11] and was replaced by a new open roundabout to the north. Around this time the lower section of the main road to Tavistock off this new roundabout was renamed Drake Circus. A two-level shopping centre with open malls and a large C&A store was built, partly over the site of the original circus. It opened in 1971 and was also named Drake Circus.[12]

Phillack

Phillack is a settlement in the west of Cornwall, UK, that, since 1935, has fallen within the boundaries of the Hayle civil parish. The origin of the name Phillack was traced in the 17th century to the Irish Saint Felicitas, who is said to have founded Phillack church in the 6th century AD, but a 10th century Vatican codex mentions a Saint Felec of Cornwall, who may be the dedicatee and is believed to have lived about the same time.
