Todmorden

England Test cricketers Peter Lever (born 1940), and Derek Shackleton, (1924?2007), are from Todmorden.

Walsden

Walsden's name is of Anglo-Saxon origin meaning "Valley of Foreigner" or "Valley of he who is Foreign". Foreign refers to the Celtic Britons who lived in West Yorkshire at the time of the Anglo Saxon Petty Kingdoms. It has been said in the past that it comes from "Wolves' Den" but this has been dismissed as the "den" in Walsden almost certainly refers to the valley.[citation needed]

Smithy Bridge railway station

The station was first opened by the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway in October 1868. In 1915, the station was the scene of a tragic accident involving an express train and an empty stock train. Four people died and many others were injured. It was closed in May 1960 by British Rail but reopened in 1985 with financial assistance from Greater Manchester PTE (albeit with a slightly different platform layout).

Rakewood Viaduct

Rakewood Viaduct carries the M62 Motorway over Rakewood Valley and Longden End Brook between junctions 21 and 22 at Littleborough in Greater Manchester, England.

Littleborough railway station

Littleborough railway station serves the small town of Littleborough in the Metropolitan Borough of Rochdale, Greater Manchester, England.
