King's LynnDuring World War I, Lynn was one of the first towns in Great Britain to be bombed from the air. In 1915, the Savage's Iron Works, an aeroplane parts factory, was bombed by a Zeppelin. When World War II began, it was assumed that King's Lynn would be safe from bombing, and many evacuees were sent there from London. However King's Lynn was not completely safe and suffered several air raids.King\'s LynnKing\'s Lynn is a town and port in Norfolk, England. The town has been known variously as Bishop\'s Lynn and Lynn Regis, while it is frequently referred to by locals as simply Lynn, the Celtic word for lake.King\'s Lynn is the third largest settlement in Norfolk, after the city of Norwich and the town of Great Yarmouth. Sandringham House, the Norfolk residence of the British Royal Family, is 6 miles (9.7 km) north-east of King\'s Lynn. It is known as the birthplace of George Vancouver (1757?1798), an officer in the Royal Navy, who was the first person to explore the Pacific coast of the modern day Canadian province of British Columbia; the American states of Alaska, Washington, and Oregon; and the southwest coast of Australia. It is also the place of the first school attended by Diana, Princess of Wales.ElyEly or ELY may also refer to:Coveney, CambridgeshireCoveney is a village in Cambridgeshire to the north of Cambridge. Several bronze axes have been found here, shields and a few swords, all dating from the late Bronze Age.[1] Coveney is on a small 'island' rising to 43 feet (13 m) above sea level, some 3.5 miles (6 km) west of Ely city as the crow flies, but nearly twice that distance by the main road. The village is situated on a by-road which leaves the main Ely?Chatteris road at Wentworth crossroads, about 2 miles (3 km) south. This by-road, which has a branch to the hamlet of Wardy Hill, 1 mile (2 km) west of Coveney village, used to be the only metalled road into the parish. But the droves across Ely West Fen, by Frogs Abbey, to Downham Hythe, and from Wardy Hill to Witcham have recently been made up for wheeled traffic.LetchworthOther bowls clubs in the town include Letchworth Garden City BC and Willian BC (both based on Norton Common), and Howard Garden (on Norton Way South).Information by Wikipedia.com
