The British band Blur have recorded a song entitled 'Threadneedle Street', which was a B-side to their single 'To The End'. The song's lyrics make reference to stocks and shares.[citation needed]
A decision was announced in July 2007, with the planning inspector noting that the requirements of both local and national planning needs would not be served by the granting of planning permission for the bridge. He recommended that there should be no bridge, side street changes, or compulsory purchase orders.[7] However Hazel Blears, the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, requested that the inquiry be re-opened to examine the evidence further as to whether the bridge would lead to regeneration, and to investigate the potential impact on pollution.[8]
The section of Victoria Line between Seven Sisters and Finsbury Park stations is the longest between adjacent stations in deep level tunnels on the London Underground network. During the planning phase of the Victoria Line, thought was given to converting Manor House into a Victoria Line station and diverting the Piccadilly Line in new tunnels directly from Finsbury Park to Turnpike Lane, but the inconvenience this would cause, as well as the cost, ensured that this idea was abandoned.
It was never well used, mainly as it was near South Tottenham and Seven Sisters stations, the latter gave a much faster link to The City. The station was closed on 9 August 1942 as a wartime austerity measure and never reopened. The station building survives, used by a newsagent which is a Transport for London (TfL) ticketstop, so it is possible since the line become part of the London Overground run by TfL in 2007 to buy tickets in the station for passing trains which no longer stop there.
