The first motor car to be driven in London and the first built in Britain is displayed at the museum. Frederick Bremer built the car in Walthamstow.
It is believed that the north aisle was added in the 13th century and the south aisle was added in the 14th century. Both extended eastward only as far as the chancel arch. In the 15th century the tower was built and, although it was constructed of Kentish Ragstone, it was in constant need of repair. The chancel was also extended eastward.
The station was opened by the Great Eastern Railway (as Hoe Street) in 1870 and London Underground services started on 1 September 1968. The up-side station building is a remarkably well preserved example of a mid-Victorian country station. The station's present name was only given when the Victoria line arrived.
It was once also suggested that the Victoria Line could terminate at Woodford or South Woodford stations.[citation needed]
Roding Valley is a London Underground station situated directly on the border between Woodford in the London Borough of Redbridge and Buckhurst Hill in the Epping Forest district of Essex. The station is between Chigwell and Woodford stations, on the Central Line. It is located in Station Way and Cherry Tree Rise (off Buckhurst Way). Since 2 January 2007, the station has been in Travelcard Zone 4.
