Going to a new neighborhood can be exciting. However, it can also be a bit lonely if you don't know anyone there. So you should reach out to your neighbors when you get to your new address. Giving out goodies may seem very old fashioned but it really works like a charm. As you deliver them, take the chance to chat with them and to invite them over. You and your family can also join some activities offered at the community center. For instance, there might be some sports clinics. There might be workshops or tutorials on computer, Internet or photography. Joining such activities allows you to have common experiences with people in your community. This gives you an opportunity to connect with them too. You should also take active part in school activities where your input is required. This will again give you a chance to meet with other parents. There you can help each other raise your children better and help them do better in school too. For instance, you could find your child a tutor on subjects you are less knowledgeable on. Then you can also offer to babysit for the other parent in return.  This will not only help you gain a friend but it would make both of your lives easier as well.
