How to Make Your Dorm Comfy and Homey
Published on Monday, 30 November 2009 Your dorm may not have all the amenities you have at home. But this does not mean that you should leave your dorm room as you found it. You can do your part to enliven it and to make it homey. If it's your first time to go to a particular dorm, you have to find out first what furniture and appliances are available. Most dorms have beds and tables already. Some dorms also have small kitchenettes in every room. Others let you eat in the cafeteria. If you have your own kitchen may want to bring in your own some basic cooking tools and equipment. Just don't go overboard since dorm rooms are not that spacious. You would usually have a roommate so you should consult him or her about your living arrangements and your decoration theme. With a theme in mind, you can start painting if painting is allowed. At least, you can hang some curtains and decorations around the room. To save space you can use storage bins under the bed. You can also install your shelves above your table or above the door frame. Make sure you clean out the entire room before you decorate. In fact, it would be better if the place is clean before you bring your stuff in. Then maintain the cleanliness in the room to maintain a relaxed atmosphere there.
