Problems may occur when moving a refrigerator because of its weight, size and workings. Since it is heavy you need help to carry it. One way to make the refrigerator lighter is to remove all contents. Before you lift and transport your refrigerator, remove all detachable items. Defrost your refrigerator about 6 hours before the move too.
 
Once it's ready, bind the refrigerator using a rope first. Avoid using tapes as they could destroy the paint or the finish of the refrigerator. When lifting the refrigerator you also need to do it in an upright position. Avoid putting it in the side and on its back as oil can also leak to the cooling tubes from the compressor. For this same reason, you would also let the refrigerator runs its oils to its necessary parts. So, you should also wait for 72 hours before you can expect proper cooling.
 
If you don't have some helping hands, hiring professional movers is quite a great option.  At least they would have the manpower to do the heavy work. And with their experience, your refrigerator would be packed and unpacked with more ease and more safely. Even if you have to pay the fees it will be worth it since your refrigerator will be moved more safely.
