Published on Tuesday, 24 November 2009 Armoires and cabinets need special attention. If you have a couple of those you might want to wrap them properly so you can prevent damaging them. It would be easier if the drawers have locks. There would not be any risk of having shelves and drawers falling or sliding. You can even use the drawers to pack some clothes and linens. Of course, this would only work if the cabinets are not too heavy. Remember that you should not pack boxes too heavy. The same goes for armoires and cabinets. If the drawers don't have locks you would have to remove them. Then you should pack each individually so they will not get damaged. You should protect the corners and edges of the furniture and its attachments with sufficient padding to avoid chipping and scratching them. Make sure that you label the packaging of the drawers and shelves so you will know where each goes. Pack the screws and hinges in a small plastic label them too. If you don't want to remove the drawers and the shelves, you can use shrink wrap to securely wrap the furniture instead. Wrap the furniture with a few layers of shrink wrap to make sure the drawers will not fall while it is being lifted and transported to your new home.
