Gisborough Priory

In the 18th century the arch formed a grand backdrop to magnificent gardens created by the Chaloner family on land south of the current Priory site. The Gisborough Priory Project,[1] a local voluntary group, aims to restore these gardens (see external link).

Bingley Three Rise Locks

Bingley Three Rise Locks is a staircase of three locks on the Leeds and Liverpool Canal at Bingley, West Yorkshire, England. It opened in 1774 and was a major feat of engineering at the time along with the larger Five Rise opened at the same time and several hundred meters further up. The lock comprises a staircase flight?the lower gate of one lock forming the upper gate of the next lock.

Bingley Old White Horse Inn

The Old White Horse Inn in Bingley, West Yorkshire, England, is one of the oldest buildings still in use in the town. It was originally constructed as a coaching inn in the mid-seventeenth century, strategically positioned with Ireland Bridge on the one side and the Parish church on the other. The building is an English Grade II listed building and has a significant amount of coaching inn infrastructure surviving including a stable, barn and two coach entrances which are located around an inner courtyard. On each side of the gable are stone lanterns that denote the former owners Order of Knights of St John of Jerusalem. There is evidence that a hostelry has been on the site since 1379.[1]

Bingley Five Rise Locks

The staircase underwent extensive restorative maintenance in 2004, and again in 2006 when the lock gates and paddles were replaced. As is expected with such a feat of engineering it requires a lot of maintenance and is often on British Waterway's list of winter stoppages for maintenance.

Wolviston

The A19 originally ran through the village until it was bypassed in the 1970s to the east then in the 1980s bypassed to the west as the original bypass became gridlocked towards Billingham and Stockton during rush hour. The A689 also used to run through the village but was bypassed to the north in the 1970s.
