Devil's Grinding Mill is part of The Angel's Drainpipe, a partially collapsed cave system on the River Eden in England, which forms dramatic gorges and natural arches. It is located South of Kirkby Stephen within Stenkrith park. The water moving with the caves and gorges produces an incessant roar. Geologically it is unusual as it has formed not in true limestone, but in brockram, a breccia of limestone fragments within sandstone.
It lies on the Manchester-Preston Line and is served primarily by local services run by Northern Rail. TransPennine Express services also serve the station at peak times. The station is currently unstaffed.
It is a modern, all-seater stadium with a capacity of 28,723 which was completed in 1997, replacing the club's old ground, Burnden Park. Despite the improved facilities and larger capacity (and resultant larger ticket revenues), this move was unpopular with many of the club's fans. This was partly due to the new stadium being built out-of-town, and partly due to sentimental attachment to the old stadium and its history. In recognition of this, the street on which the stadium is situated is called Burnden Way.
Bridekirk is a hamlet North of Cockermouth in West Cumbria. It contains no shops but is does contain a small church.
The first castle on this site was built by the Normans in 1134. Significant additions were made in the 13th and 14th centuries. The castle played a significant role in the Wars of the Roses, and in the Civil War, when it was badly damaged. Although it was partly restored in the 19th century much of it is still in ruins. It is a grade I listed building and a Scheduled Ancient Monument. Cockermouth Castle is currently (2007) owned by Pamela Lady Egremont.
