Boston, Lincolnshire

The seven-storeyed Maud Foster Tower Windmill, completed in 1819, by millwrights Norman & Smithson of Kingston upon Hull for Issac and Thomas Reckitt, is momentarily the tallest operating windmill in England (80 ft/24.4 metres to the top of the cap), following extensive restoration during the 1980s and early 1990s and is now a working museum. The tall mill, without the usual tar coating in Lincs, stands on the dyke above the drain it is named after and is unusual in having an odd number (five) of sails.

St Botolph's Church, Boston

Although climate change has now led to lower levels of the River Haven, 500 years ago when Boston was at its zenith, the river would have regularly flooded. The buttress on the south-west corner of the tower has been used for keeping a record of the heights and dates of flooding of the river that runs past it. Ample flood defences built around Boston since the North Sea Flood of 1953 have kept the church dry for the past decades.

York Street

By road you can travel to the ground by taking the A1 to A17 Sleaford to Boston, drive straight-on along John Adams Way, turn right at the traffic lights into Main Ridge and then right again into York Street. The ground's car park is for permit holders only, but parking is available on the surrounding roads. If not, the NCP car park off John Adams Way is within walking distance of the ground.

Gainsborough

The town is at the meeting point of the east-west A631 (which crosses the Trent on Trent Bridge at the only point between the M180 and the A57), the A156 (from the south to Torksey) and A159 (from Scunthorpe). Thorndike Way, Gainsborough's dual carriageway, intended to connect with the A15 at Caenby Corner, only extends eastward to the town boundary.

Fleet, Lincolnshire

Fleet is a small village residing on Delph Bank, south east of Holbeach, in Lincolnshire, England.
