Newhaven, East Sussex

Newhaven lies at the mouth of the River Ouse, in the valley the river has cut through the South Downs. Over the centuries the river has migrated between Newhaven and Seaford in response to the growth and decay of a shingle spit (shoal) at its mouth.

Tarring Neville

East Sussex County Council is the next tier of government, for which Tarring Neville is within the Ouse Valley East division, with responsibility for Education, Libraries, Social Services, Civil Registration, Trading Standards and Transport. Elections for the County Council are held every four years. The Liberal Democrat Thomas Ost was elected in the 2005 election.[6]

Denton, East Sussex

Denton is a small village inside the town of Newhaven, East Sussex, England. Named after Denton Island, in the middle of Newhaven Harbour, it adjoins the suburbs of South Heighton and Mount Pleasant. It backs onto the South Downs and local church records suggest it is featured in the Domesday book. The village has a school and one pub, the "Flying Fish".

Isfield

The ancient ecclesiastical parish, which is very similar to the modern civil parish, was 1,822 acres (736 ha) in size. Today's population is relatively small, since much of the parish is rural. The village centre lies adjacent to the river crossing; a more modern part is further south.

Maresfield

Fairwarp is a smaller village directly north of Maresfield. Its population and the village properties are altogether less modern than the others in the parish.[8] The church is Christ Church.[9]
