Whitesheet Hill

There are some 12 ancient burial mounds (barrows) on the hill dating from 1800 BC. [1]

Bordon

The Ministry of Defence has decided to relocate armed forces training from Whitehill Bordon to St Athan in South Wales. This decision means that up to 600 acres (240 ha) of land could be released from 2011, enabling up to 5,500 homes to be built and up to 7,000 jobs to be created, with a new town centre and associated infrastructure.[6]

Liss

There are numerous elements of early Roman infrastructure in the area, and being in proximity to Roman Chichester and Winchester with the course of a Roman road in north-east corner of parish. It appears that the area would have been extensively settled with excavated evidence at Alton, Selbourne etc. and there is doubtless much that remains to be found along the downfoot and the spring line villages. The Liss Archaeological Group have recently uncovered an extensive Roman villa site close to East Liss, with further excavations to be made.

Fleet Pond

Fleet Pond is a nature reserve in Fleet, Hampshire, UK. It covers an area of approx. 141 acres (0.6 km²) much of which is designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest. The pond itself is approximately 53 acres (0.2km²) and is the largest freshwater lake in Hampshire. Originally there was a second pond, the exact location of which is now unknown. The remaining pond has been reduced in size by silting and development including the London and South Western Railway, and also by draining undertaken during the Second World War, when it was felt it provided too good a landmark for the nearby National Gas Turbine Establishment. The pond and surrounding area remain under threat, due to the ongoing development of Fleet.

Cherrywood Road

On one side of the ground is the Main Stand, named in 2009 the Charles Mortimore Stand after the long-serving club president. This stand comprises covered seating and was extended and improved during summer 2008. The total length of the stand is approximately half that of the pitch and on either side there are small terraced areas. Opposite is another covered stand which runs the length of the pitch, this was previously a covered terrace but was converted to seating during the 2009 close season. This stand does not have an official name, however, many fans refer to it as the SWAN, an acronym which stands for Stand Without A Name . This additional work has brought the amount on seating at the stadium up to 950. The Moor Road End of the ground is terraced with a covering added to the rear section in summer 2008. The terracing was rebuilt during the 08/09 season. The Prospect Road End is currently undergoing redevelopment with a new 1350 seater stand due to be completed in September 2009. The stand will also feature disabled facilities and contain a concourse underneath with toilets and refreshment facilities. The new stand has been partly funded by a £150,000 grant from the Football Foundation.
