Carisbrooke Castle

In 2007, English Heritage opened a holiday flat inside the castle, in converted former staff quarters. The Flat is situated above the museum near the room in which the king was kept captive. A balcony going across the Kings prison room is adjoined to the flat of which is currently long - term rented by English heritage staff.[6]

Newport, Isle of Wight

Quarr Abbey

This site became a valuable and productive property. Because of this, it was the tradition for the abbot to be appointed warden or lord of the island. The prevalence of piracy in the area led to the granting in 1340 of special permission to fortify the area against attack. A stone wall, sea gate and portcullis were constructed. The ruins of these defences are still visible.

Fort Gilkicker

Currently the fort is inaccessible as various plans to convert the site to housing with an attached museum come and go.
