Twickenham Stadium (usually known as just Twickenham or Twickers[1]) is a stadium located in Twickenham, in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames. It is the largest rugby union stadium in the United Kingdom and has recently been enlarged to seat 82,000. This makes it the second largest stadium in the UK after Wembley Stadium and the fifth largest stadium in Europe. The stadium is the home of the Rugby Football Union (RFU), and as such primarily a venue for rugby union and hosts England's home test matches, as well as the Middlesex Sevens, the Guinness Premiership final, the EDF Energy Cup and Heineken Cup matches. The stadium is considered an icon of English rugby and the 2009/2010 season saw Twickenham celebrate its centenary. The 100th anniversary of the first international at HQ in 1910 was marked by the England team wearing a special commemorative shirt against Wales on February 6th and by a centenary book called Twickenham - 100 Years of Rugby's HQ.
The Stoop in the western suburbs of London, England, officially the Twickenham Stoop Stadium, is the home stadium of both Harlequins rugby union team and Harlequins Rugby League who play in the Guinness Premiership and Super League respectively. The stadium has a capacity of 14,816.
The London Borough of Hounslow ( pronunciation (help·info)) is a London borough in West London, England.
CCS is located beside Chiswick House and has adopted a picture of the house as its logo. Most of the buildings are new, however the North Eastern block still remains from the original girls' school. Before the school was built a farm was on the site. Due to its location it has a very wide catchment area taking pupils from the borough of Hounslow as well as Kensington and Chelsea, Richmond, Hammersmith and Fulham and Ealing.
The new station was designed by Charles Holden in a modern European style using brick, reinforced concrete and glass. Holden's design was inspired by Alfred Grenander's underground station Krumme Lanke in Berlin. Similar to the station at Arnos Grove that Holden designed for the eastern Piccadilly Line extension, Chiswick Park station features a tall semi-circular ticket hall adjacent to the embankment carrying the tracks. Externally the brick walls of the ticket hall are punctuated with panels of clerestory windows and the structure is capped with a flat concrete slab roof which abuts the cantilevered concrete canopy of the westbound platform. A similar canopy shelters the eastbound platform accessed through the embankment. To make the station's location visible from Chiswick High Road the station was also provided with a square brick tower surmounted by the UNDERGROUND roundel and the station's name.
