Bath, Somerset

The City of Bath's ceremonial functions, including the mayoralty ? which can be traced back to 1230 ? and control of the coat of arms, are now maintained by the Charter Trustees of the City of Bath.[40] The coat of arms includes two silver strips, which represent the River Avon and the hot springs. The sword of St. Paul is a link to Bath Abbey. The supporters, a lion and a bear, stand on a bed of acorns, a link to Bladud, the subject of the Legend of Bath. The knight's helmet indicates a municipality and the crown is that of King Edgar.[41]

Oldfield Park railway station

Passenger services are operated by First Great Western. The station has a ticket office on the westbound platform which is manned only during the morning peak.[2] The station is also part of the Penalty Fares area.

Twerton-on-Avon railway station

Twerton was named after village that it served (west of Bath on the south bank of the Avon) though at the time it was also called Twiverton. The station was built in Gothic style variously called Tudor or Jacobethan. This style is seen from the tunnel mouths west of Twerton to Bath Spa station including many arches and embellishment in the viaduct itself. This is something of a contrast to the Georgian buildings in the centre of Bath north of the river, but is reflected in the Victorian domestic architecture on the southern suburbs. It opened as a railway station on 16 December 1840 for Great Western Railway services from Bristol[1]. Four trains a day stopped at Twerton in each direction (out of eleven services each way between Bath and Bristol).

Wiltshire

This is a chart of trend of regional gross value added (GVA) of Wiltshire at current basic prices[6] with figures in millions of British Pounds Sterling.

Trowbridge railway station

Regular service (at present half-hourly each way Mon-Sat, hourly on Sundays) is provided by First Great Western to Bath, Bristol Temple Meads and either Gloucester or Cardiff Central northbound and Weymouth or Southampton and Portsmouth in the south.
