Dean Court is named after the Cooper-Dean family of Bournemouth, who granted the land to the football club in 1910. One of the stands had previously been used in the Wembley Exhibition of 1924.[citation needed] The ground's attendance record of 28,799 was set at an FA Cup match against Manchester United in 1957.[3]
In 1802, however, the Christchurch Inclosure Act, entitled An Act for dividing, allotting and inclosing certain Commonable Lands and Waste Grounds within the Parish or Chapelry of Holdenhurst in the County of Southampton was passed in Parliament. Commissioners were appointed to divide up the land and allot it according to an individual's entitlement, and to set out the roads and to sell plots of land in order to pay for their work.[5]
Since the late 1990s, Bournemouth School has been designated a specialist Language College. Languages offered to both pupils, and communities at large, include French, German, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Japanese, Mandarin Chinese and Arabic.
While Barton is a common English place-name, the etymology of Barton-on-Sea is unique. It is named from after Beorma?s Farm at Barton (which appears twice in the Domesday Book, as Bermintune and as Burmintune[3]).
West Parley is a village and civil parish in south east Dorset, England, situated on the River Stour between Bournemouth and Ferndown. The village has a population of 3,532 (As of 2001[update]).
