Government Communications Headquarters

The Communications-Electronics Security Group (CESG) of GCHQ provides assistance to government departments on their own communications security: CESG is the UK national technical authority for information assurance, including cryptography. CESG does not manufacture security equipment, but works with industry to ensure the availability of suitable products and services, while GCHQ itself can fund research into such areas, for example to the Centre for Quantum Computing at Oxford University and the Heilbronn Institute at Bristol University.[29]

Badgeworth SSSI, Gloucestershire

Badgeworth SSSI (grid reference SO911206) is a 3.08 hectare biological Site of Special Scientific Interest in Gloucestershire, notified in 1954.

Cheltenham Town Hall

Cheltenham Town Hall is an early twentieth-century assembly rooms in Cheltenham, England. Unlike most town halls, it is a public venue and not the seat of the borough council which is housed in the nearby Municipal Offices.

Gloucester Cathedral

The most notable monument is the canopied shrine of King Edward II of England who was murdered at nearby Berkeley Castle (illustration below). The building and sanctuary were enriched by the visits of pilgrims to this shrine. In a side-chapel is a monument in coloured bog oak of Robert Curthose, eldest son of William the Conqueror and a great benefactor of the abbey, who was interred there. Monuments of Bishop Warburton and Dr Edward Jenner are also worthy of note.

Kingsholm Stadium

Kingsholm is well known amongst rugby union fans for its partisan supporters and its intimidating atmosphere, and is widely regarded as a superb venue for rugby. Kingsholm was used as a home stadium for England before they settled at Twickenham and also hosted New Zealand versus United States for a pool match in the 1991 Rugby World Cup.
