The three councillors presently representing Sutton New Hall on Birmingham City Council are David Barrie, Dennis Birbeck and James Bird, all of the Conservative Party.
The land on which the estate is situated on used to be farmed as a part of New Hall Farm. Some of the trees have been retained and gates which were once used to separate fields are now used in driveways as ornamental features. The barn and farmhouse were saved from demolition and have been converted into houses.
Archaeological work has been conducted in 1977 and 1980. The first work in 1977 was a ground survey and the 1980 investigation consisted of excavations on site.[5] An archaeological evaluation was carried out by the Birmingham University Field Archaeology Unit in 1998.[6]
St. Barnabas' Church is the parish church of Erdington, in the north of Birmingham, England.
In the 15th century, a chapel was constructed on the side of the manor house for the residents of Erdington. However, attendance was low and the chapel fell into decay. The residents were then urged to travel to the parish church in Aston, however, again the attendance was low. A south aisle was therefore added to the church and became known as the Erdington chantry.[1]
