Harrogate

Harrogate is strongly connected to Leeds, in both rail and road transport. This is also evident in the volume of high school students coming from Leeds to Harrogate everyday. The strong transport connection is very important for some of the Harrogate schools, especially Rossett School. Road transport to Leeds is via the A61 (north and central Leeds), A658 (north west Leeds/Leeds Bradford International Airport) and A661 (for north east Leeds). The A61 also continues northwards to Ripon, while the A658 connects to Bradford after passing through north west Leeds. The A658 also forms the Harrogate Bypass that skirts the south and east of the town, joining the A59 linking York and the A1(M) to the east and Skipton to the west with Harrogate.

Wetherby Road Ground

The CNG Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium in Harrogate, England. It is currently used mostly for football matches and is the home ground of Harrogate Town. The stadium has a capacity of 3,800 people.[1] It was originally called the Wetherby Road ground, but a sponsorhsip deal in July 2008 led to the name change.

Wetherby Racecourse

The Racecourse is located on the B1224 York Road, directly adjacent to the A1(M). It is situated opposite Wetherby (HM Prison). There are new access roads between North and East Wetherby and the A1(M). The racecourse can also be accessed from Walton Road at the rear of the stands.

Linton, West Yorkshire

Linton is an affluent village 2.5 km (1.5 miles) south west of Wetherby, West Yorkshire, England and in the City of Leeds metropolitan borough. The village is situated between Wetherby and Sicklinghall, on the River Wharfe. Collingham lies immediately to the south on the other side of the river. There is no longer any break in between Linton and the Western edge of Wetherby, effectively making it difficult to make a distinction between parts of the two areas.

Shaw and Crompton

Under the Local Government Act 1972, the town's Urban District status was abolished, and Shaw and Crompton has, since 1 April 1974, formed part of the Metropolitan Borough of Oldham, a local government district of the metropolitan county of Greater Manchester.[1][51] Since 1987, Shaw and Crompton has had civil parish status, and its own parish council, giving it some limited local government autonomy from that of the wider Metropolitan Borough of Oldham, and including the status as a statutory consultee on local planning applications.[52] The council comprises 14 locally elected members, and is consulted in planning applications that affect the area through the Shaw and Royton Area Committee of Oldham Metropolitan Borough Council.[24] Shaw and Crompton Community Council, a separate body, meets at least four times per year and is designed to allow local people to put forward their priorities for the area in which they live, suggest improvements and have their say on how services are run on a local basis.[53] Shaw and Crompton does not have a mayor, but does have a town crier,[54] a purely ceremonial role. Shaw and Crompton is one of only a few parishes of England that still observes the ancient custom of Beating the bounds.[55][56] Originally an annual event, it now takes place every seven years.[57]
