Old Town, West Yorkshire

Old Town is a village in Calderdale, West Yorkshire, England. Situated on a hilltop above Hebden Bridge and across the Hebden valley from Heptonstall. Both Old Town and nearby Pecket Well are served by Wadsworth Parish Council. Old Town has a village green, two chapels, a pub called the Hare & Hounds (known by the locals as Lane Ends) and a post office.[2][3][4]The village has a population of about 1,070.

Bingley Old White Horse Inn

The Old White Horse Inn in Bingley, West Yorkshire, England, is one of the oldest buildings still in use in the town. It was originally constructed as a coaching inn in the mid-seventeenth century, strategically positioned with Ireland Bridge on the one side and the Parish church on the other. The building is an English Grade II listed building and has a significant amount of coaching inn infrastructure surviving including a stable, barn and two coach entrances which are located around an inner courtyard. On each side of the gable are stone lanterns that denote the former owners Order of Knights of St John of Jerusalem. There is evidence that a hostelry has been on the site since 1379.[1]

Bingley Three Rise Locks

In 1985 the locks were designated Grade II* listed status.[1]

Bingley Five Rise Locks

The staircase underwent extensive restorative maintenance in 2004, and again in 2006 when the lock gates and paddles were replaced. As is expected with such a feat of engineering it requires a lot of maintenance and is often on British Waterway's list of winter stoppages for maintenance.

Holden Park

The park contains the local war memorial; a stone portico entrance, which is the only surviving remnant of Oakworth House; and Holden's summer house, made from a steel framework and hypertufa shaped to look like wooden branches. Past the grottoes and caves there is a large grassed area which used to be the vegetable garden for the house and was later a putting green, and above this are the woods, which contain many paths originally laid out by Holden.
