The Old White Horse Inn in Bingley, West Yorkshire, England, is one of the oldest buildings still in use in the town. It was originally constructed as a coaching inn in the mid-seventeenth century, strategically positioned with Ireland Bridge on the one side and the Parish church on the other. The building is an English Grade II listed building and has a significant amount of coaching inn infrastructure surviving including a stable, barn and two coach entrances which are located around an inner courtyard. On each side of the gable are stone lanterns that denote the former owners Order of Knights of St John of Jerusalem. There is evidence that a hostelry has been on the site since 1379.[1]
It opened on 12 March 1774 and was a major feat of engineering at the time. When the locks and therefore the canal from Gargrave to Leeds was opened in 1774 a crowd of 30,000 people turned out to celebrate. The first boat to use the locks took just 28 minutes and the whole first trip is described here as it was in a newspaper of the time - the Leeds Intelligencer. The smaller Three Rise opened at the same time just a few hundred meters further down.
Bingley Three Rise Locks is a staircase of three locks on the Leeds and Liverpool Canal at Bingley, West Yorkshire, England. It opened in 1774 and was a major feat of engineering at the time along with the larger Five Rise opened at the same time and several hundred meters further up. The lock comprises a staircase flight?the lower gate of one lock forming the upper gate of the next lock.

Rodley is a village on the outskirts of west Leeds, West Yorkshire, England with a strong history dating back a thousand years. The earliest use of the name on record appears to be RODELE (without surname) who was listed as a tenant in the Domesday Book of 1086, and REDLEGA (without surname) was recorded in Yorkshire in the year 1157. ROTHELAY (without surname) was listed in a document in Gloucestershire in the year 1227. It borders the equally ancient hamlet of Bagley.
