Haworth is a village and tourist attraction in the English ceremonial county of West Yorkshire best known for its association with the Brontë sisters.
The Oakworth Primary School is situated in the former grounds of Sir Isaac Holden's estate, along with Holden Park. The school playground has sloping sides because it was once a lake in the ornamental gardens in front of Oakworth House.[citation needed] The school is attended by children aged between 3 - 11. It has gone through many changes since it was first built. Its original name was 'Oakworth First School', which taught children up to the age of 9, where children would then progress onto 'middle school'. This Comprehensive system changed in the year 2000. This meant that the now 'Oakworth Primary School' had to introduce two more year groups, years 5 and 6.[citation needed]
The park contains the local war memorial; a stone portico entrance, which is the only surviving remnant of Oakworth House; and Holden's summer house, made from a steel framework and hypertufa shaped to look like wooden branches. Past the grottoes and caves there is a large grassed area which used to be the vegetable garden for the house and was later a putting green, and above this are the woods, which contain many paths originally laid out by Holden.
Old Town is a village in Calderdale, West Yorkshire, England. Situated on a hilltop above Hebden Bridge and across the Hebden valley from Heptonstall. Old Town has a village green, two chapels, a pub called the Hare & Hounds (known by the locals as Lane Ends) and a post office.[2][3][4]The village has a population of about 1,070.
